I'm a student from New Zealand. I want to know if anyone has the source code of WINEPI or MINEPI by Toivonen and Manila, in Java or C++.

Those algorithms are described in :

Heikki Mannila, Hannu Toivonen, A. Inkeri Verkamo: Discovery of Frequent Episodes in Event Sequences. Data Min. Knowl. Discov. 1(3): 259-289 (1997)

I have tried to implement WINEPI but the algorithm is so complicated and hard to understand. I really need these algorithms to complete my master degree thesis.

I did not find any implementation of these algorithms either on the web.

It seems like the persons who implemented them do not want to share the source code or even the executable files.

I think that perhaps you could contact the authors of these algorithms to try to get the source code/executables, or contact some authors of articles that have used them, to ask them if they can share them with you.

In any cases, if you find them, please let us know!

I agree that it would be interesting to have these algorithm. But for now, I have decided to put this on hold. I may do it this summer depending how much free time I have. Otherwise, I cannot guarantee when it could be done or if I would do it.

I would like to know whether there is any news about the WINEPI/MINEPI implementaion.

On the other hand I would like to know of any episode rules mining software available in the net.

The only one I know is TDMiner but its documentation is very small and it is not clear the exact meaning of many parameters in the user interface.

So, please, if anyne knows about any other package, let me know.

Hi,

is not the code itself, but the author "Jussi Ahola" did a pretty good job dissecating several parts of WINEPI in this techincal report at "VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd" at Mining Sequential Patterns VTT Research Report.

Someone else coud try contact him directly, he is on Linkedin, but please, bring back some news.
