Our Commercial Performance Analysis function delivers insights that drive tactical and strategic decision-making, from long term revenue forecasting and setting targets, to influencing pricing decisions and evaluating marketing campaigns.

We have an opportunity for a Performance Analyst to work in the Commercial Planning Team supporting our Americas region, focussed on optimising our commercial performance across British Airways and Iberia, as well as partner airlines within the terms of our Atlantic Joint Business.

Our team works closely with the Americas Sales and Marketing department on setting the Sales teams’ revenue targets, analysing the immediate and long-term market position for the Americas region, highlighting emerging trends that are likely to affect performance and tracking performance compared to targets, with partner airline colleagues and the General Management Team of the Atlantic Joint Business.

About the day to day

• As a Performance Analyst, you’ll make full use of your commercial acumen. You’ll enjoy the opportunity of using these insights to influence leadership teams and fellow colleagues
• Producing valuable commercial analysis and insight, you’ll make an impact on strategic decisions that will help to shape the direction and performance of our Americas business. Your varied responsibilities will range from revenue forecasting to measuring the effectiveness of tactical marketing campaigns
• We’ll also expect you to identify, structure and lead analytical initiatives that will bring value to our client base

Within our team, there is the opportunity to:

• Analyse revenue performance, highlight relevant issues and provide recommendations outlining appropriate action to be taken (e.g. promotional activity, inventory action or price changes)
• Play an integral role in the revenue planning process, which delivers revenue targets and forecasts to the Americas sales force
• Input to Sales and Marketing plans by providing analysis on the marketplace, cost of sale and marketing budget
• Evaluate the performance of different customer segments and channels
• Develop insights to form the basis of highly targeted marketing campaigns and communications.

Further information:

• We use Excel modelling, SAS for data analysis and data mining, Enterprise miner, Business Objects, Teradata SQL
• Our data covers most aspects of BA business available on databases (e.g., flights information, commercial results, market shares, executive club member behaviour, schedules, margins on ancillary revenues, network plans)
• We undertake levels of analysis to produce reporting, forecasting or causal analysis on an ad hoc basis or via tool design

About you

• Your strong analytical ability will be backed by a numerate degree or equivalent, and experience in an analytical role with exposure to business or sales
• You will be comfortable extracting data from a variety of different sources to pull together and produce meaningful analysis
• The ability to influence others through analytical insight, strong communication and compelling presentations is important
• You’ll have strong skills in Excel and be as comfortable presenting your findings to stakeholders as you are building relationships across departments
• The ability to build strong relationships across different departments and stakeholder management is needed in this role
• Knowledge of SQL and /or SAS are desirable but not essential
• Commercial awareness and ability to think creatively and strategically
• You’ll enjoy solving complex technical problems that can deliver business value and the passion to implement and drive forward outcomes
