This is an important role that will play a critical role in ensuring that the UK Statistics Authority statistical data programme evolves to take account of a changing environment as different data sources become available. You will also be responsible for the statistical infrastructure that underpins much of the UK Statistics Authority work programme.

This is an exciting opportunity and the success of the chosen candidate will ultimately be measured against their ability to establish the office as a centre of excellence in data science.

We are looking for a candidate who has exceptional customer/supplier skills and who can apply their on-the-ground experience and skill to drive forward and lead one of the two methodology divisions in ONS. The Chief Data Scientist will have the management skills, process improvement skills and the ability to represent ONS on the national and international stage. The task will be guided by some fundamental principles; putting the needs of users first, focusing on delivery and outcomes.
