Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that I have finished implementing the HUI-Miner algorithm that was proposed last year at the CIKM 2012 conference.

This is the article describing HUI-Miner:

Menchi Liu, Junfeng Qu (2012). Mining High Utility Itemsets without Candidate Generation. Proc. of the 21st ACM International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM 2012). pp.55-64.

According to their authors, it is the current best algorithm for high utility itemset mining.

Actually, the HUI-Miner algorithm was quite easy to implement. It is simple. But efficient. I have implemented it in about 6 hours only and I have done all the optimizations described in the paper.

The Java source code of my implementation is available in the new version (0.92) of the open-source SPMF data mining library.

Furthermore, SPMF offers the FHM and HUI-Miner algorithms, which are newer and were shown to be faster.

Hi,

You should ask yourself two questions:
- Can you transform your data to the input format used by this algorithm? If you can, then the algorithm can be applied, whatever your data is.
- Does it make sense to apply this algorithm to your data? Even if you could transform your data to the input format used by this algorithm, it does not means that it would make sense to apply it. You need to think about what is your goal? You should have a goal when applying an algorithm.

A UPGrowth+ implementation can be downloaded on the SPMF website, as well as other faster high utility itemset mining algorithm such as HUI-Miner and FHM.

Source code of the HUI-Miner algorithm for high utility itemset mining for apriori implemenetation

HUI-Miner and Apriori are two different algorithms, and HUI-Miner is not based on Apriori so it does not make sense to talk about HUI-Miner (...) for the Apriori implementation.

What is the difference between UPGrowth, HUI-Miner, FHM, and EFIM?

Hi!

I recommend to read the paper about UPGrowth+ published in TKDE. It would be easier to understand perhaps because otherwise I would have to explain that paper again here. The difference if i remember well is that it uses the "minimum utility" to prune the search space. But from memory, I don't remember the details, and also the java code in SPMF was not implemented by me but by another person so I cannot tell you too much about that code. However, I have tested the code and it generates the correct result.

I cannot provide the source code since I'm not the main author of that paper. You should ask C.-W. Wu. Maybe he will give it to you.

Hai i will try to enhance the hui algo by using the gradual pruning algo bt it may produces only 63 itemset in hui algo it may produce the 32752 itemset please juatify if my results are right or wrong its urgent please help me quick thank you in advance
