Data mining from smartphone data

Hey

Do you guys think that the big companies like Apple and Google are doing data mining on the location data that is recorded by the smartphones? I have heard in the news lately that they record a lot of data from cellphones so i'm asking this question.

BTW, I don't like Apple. In my opinion they have very bad behavior. I would not be surprised that they would do data mining from customer data without telling anybody for the benefit of their new IAD advertissement platform. I can imagine for example that they would extract patterns from several users to then use this knowledge to serve more personalized ads to users.
